Presbyterian Women
Purpose:
“Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study; to support the mission of the church worldwide; to work for justice and peace; and to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church USA and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom.”
With these words, women at First Presbyterian Church define themselves and their works through the Presbyterian Women organization. Nine circles involving almost 300 members conduct Bible or book study, service, and fellowship once a month from September through May. Meetings are held in homes and at the church, on Monday or Tuesday, during the day or evening. The particulars of this can be found by exploring the circle links below. Each woman who is a member of the church is invited to join a circle of her choosing.
Membership is optional, and participation in activities is by choice. Many opportunities come along each month. Browsing the information can help you to find a circle that might be right for you. Contact PWCT vice-moderator Nancy Woolwine (343-0620 or email Nancy ) for help or suggestions. In addition, if you’d like to see membership lists of each circle, stop by the office and ask staff member Lorene Walsh for a copy of the Presbyterian Women’s latest Directory.
Circle membership can be a rich blessing. We invite you to join us for a visit or for good!
Currently, there are 9 circles which meet at various days and times each month, which makes it easy to find a circle that meets at a day/time that is convenient for you!
