Spiritual Growth and Vitality Team

Members:
Barbara Barbee, Bruce Gibson (chair), Ellison Hunter, Charlie Lee, Justine Lerch, John Murray, Ernie Thompson, Ed Weaver

Charter:
Our purpose is to guide the elders, deacons, staff and congregation through a series of holy conversations focused on discerning God’s calling for our congregation at this particular time, and on translating that calling into a strategic plan which will guide our mission and ministry. We will identify major issues for our church and describe these in a way that will prompt decisions and action by our church leadership. We will lead and guide the Session through the planning process recognizing that final responsibility rests collectively with the Session for formulating an action plan. The holy conversations, which we will conduct, will be with a diverse group of individuals, both from within and outside of our congregation. Throughout the process of prayer, study and contemplation, we will identify issues of urgency as we attempt to discern and carry out God’s work.

Survey:
At the completion of our study, we want to ensure that every member of this congregation has had an opportunity to voice an opinion. To that end, a survey will be sent to the entire membership, via email or postal mail, during the week of February 20. You are encouraged to fill out the survey online by going to this link (click HERE)  or via the link on our church web site. If you are not comfortable using a computer and the Internet, we can help. Please contact the church office and arrange a time to come in and a staff member will help in completing the online survey with you. There are also printed copies of the survey available at various places in the church, and you may either mail or drop off your completed form at the church office. Replies are confidential and anonymous.

Focus groups:
After the survey period is finished, we will tabulate the data and analyze your responses. Using this information, we will conduct focus group roundtable discussions to further discern the future direction for our church. These roundtables will be held in the latter part of March, and your participation in this next step of the process is greatly appreciated

Results:
Results of the survey and focus group roundtables will be shared with the congregation as information becomes available. In addition, the SGVT will present its findings to the Session. Ultimately, as stated in our charter, “We will lead and guide the Session through the planning process recognizing that final responsibility rests collectively with the Session for formulating an action plan.”

Thank you for your support and participation!
