June 30 Message from the Campaign Co-chairs
GENERATIONS OF LIGHT UPDATE
Last Sunday we announced the results of our campaign to date, and we very gratefully shared the following:
Total pledge families: 119
Total pledges: $1,305.794.36
Given to date in First Fruits offering: $273,684.18
But there is more good news! In addition to pledges from the congregation, we have been blessed with an unsolicited gift of $200,000 from the Kenan Charitable Trust. The Kenan family has been generous to our congregation over many years, beginning with the original gift of Kenan Chapel and our steeple. They have continued to support our work, and this recent gift is both timely and generous. This pushes us past our “stretch” goal of $1,500,000, BUT we continue to ask for your support of this campaign. Gifts in excess of the goal will go to the Capital Fund, which supports the long term maintenance of our beautiful facilities. We will close the campaign soon as we turn our attention to the fall Stewardship campaign.
On behalf of the Generations of Light campaign committee, thanks to everyone: for your prayers for the campaign, for your pledges to support the campaign, and for your passion for First Presbyterian Church!

June 16, 2023- Letter from the campaign co-chairs:
Dear members and friends of First Presbyterian Church,
What a great month June has been!
On Sunday June 4th, we offered our commitments to the Generations of Light capital campaign in response to what God has called each of us to do. Rather than being the conclusion of the campaign, we are now entering the three-year period of fulfilling our commitments.
Last Sunday, June 11th, we issued a call to Tracey Daniel, our new Congregational Care minister.
And on Sunday, June 18th, we will receive our first official offering of the Generations of Light campaign. This offering is patterned after the Israelites (Leviticus 2:9-12, 14) who brought the first fruits of the harvest to the temple as an expression of gratitude to God. We want to invite you to consider making a gift towards your commitment through a First Fruits Offering on Sunday or the following week. If you are not able to be in worship on the 18th, you may mail or drop off your gift at the church office. In addition to cash, some may be offering stock or other gifts-in-kind at this time. Those who have not been able to make a commitment at this time may still wish to make a special gift towards the campaign.
On Announcement Sunday, June 25th, we will hear both the total amount of commitments made to our campaign and the amount of our First Fruits Offering. This may well be a historic offering for our church and propel us into the future.
Over the next three years you can expect to be updated on the progress of your individual giving as well as our corporate giving. If you have any questions regarding your individual commitment, please contact Amy Osborne in the church office (amy@firstonthird.org, (910)762-6688).
Thank you for your commitment to the Generations of Light campaign – and the exciting future of our church!
