Jim comes to us after serving six years as solo pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Laurinburg, NC. He is a life-long musician, playing piano and guitar; as well as an ordained PCUSA minister having served churches in Georgia and North Carolina. Born in Scotland County, NC, Jim earned his BA in Anthropology from Wake Forest University, and his Doctor of Ministry from Columbia Theological Seminary. He has been the song leader/musician multiple times at Montreat Youth Conferences and the Presbyterian Youth Triennium; while also being keynote speaker/preacher/musician all over the USA at various Presbytery youth events and retreats. He joined our First Presbyterian Church staff in January of 2025, and serves as band leader for our Blended Service while also sharing general preaching and pastoral care duties. He and his wife Annette have three grown children: Melody, Mindy and Matthew.
