Summertime means a slower pace and a relaxed atmosphere. A season to soak in the sun and to soak up God’s word. Listed below are a few ways to enjoy scripture individually or with friends and family.
- Carve out quiet time for you to read your selection in nature or a cool, quiet space. Keep a journal that reflects your thoughts, ponderings, and desires about your walk with Jesus.
- Invite friends into the mix by hosting a coffee talk, a Bible brunch, or an evening potluck/cocktail gathering while discussing the readings or DVD.
- For the younger ones: Popsicles and Prayers – meet twice a month at a park or someone’s backyard to have a quick children’s devotional, pray for others, eat a popsicle, and then play, play, play. If you are feeling extra adventurous, throw in a craft!
- For the teenagers: Pizza, Prayers, and a Play List – meet once a month at the beach, at a pool, at a park, or a residence for an outing of pizza, praying for others, perhaps a discussion on the real life experiences/struggles of being a Christian in today’s world, and a current Christian playlist.
- For the over 21 crowd: Beers and the Bible or Taps and Theology. Gather at a local brewery to discuss selected readings or scriptures.
- Movie Night: host a family friendly outdoor movie night featuring one of our entertainment DVDs complete with popcorn, s’mores, and glow sticks!
- Bible at the Beach: host a sunrise or sunset Bible discussion. All you need is a Bible and a beach blanket surrounded by God’s beautiful nature – take advantage of our coastal location!
- Reserve a space in FPC for your group – we have so many beautiful spaces that would welcome summer company.
